Quakers are different

bird of a different feather

But not in the ways you may think we are!

Many people seem to think Quakers are a bit odd…that they speak in pious “thees” and “thous”…that they dress like the man on the Quaker Oats box…that they get around in horse-drawn buggies. Truth is, we haven’t done any of those things in over a century!

We do, however, view things from a different perspective. Quaker life, and worship, is based on our experience of the continuing revelation of the word of God, and the process of discernment of that message, within our Quaker community. Listening to the continuing word of God leads us to the testimony, through our lives, of commitment to honesty, simplicity, peacemaking, and equality. Funny…those are the same things that made us different 300 years ago!

Come join us in worship. You’ll find no preacher, dogma, or liturgy; no proselytizing, no pressure…not even a collection. Just peace and quiet and love; friendship and fellowship and sharing; a time for listening to God's message, and sharing it with others, a time for getting in touch with the “Light Within.” After that, maybe you’ll view things a little differently too!
